Check out some essential tips for unboxing ATC studio monitors. First, remove the box staples. Avoid touching or grabbing the front face of the speaker as the drivers are exposed and can be damaged. Do not lift the speaker straight out of the box. Use the flip method and lift the box away. ATC's are much heavier than many realize so it's recommended to have 2 people handle the speaker. No comparison, a unit with neodymium magnet is normally much smaller and also more expensive. The dual suspension is only necessary when your mid driver is taking very low frequencies. So a bulky mid driver doesn’t mean it’s better. Not to say that ATC mids are bad, no they are better than most.

    I like the drive (NPI) behind this company. Alex seems passionate about carrying his father's legacy and making good speakers. Instead of having some cheap speakers made overseas and putting the company name on them, he's chosen the much harder route of making them stateside, doing lots of research, and making them as nice as possible. That's worth your money if you ask me. As for the speakers, they speak for themselves.

    I have a small well treated room, switched to the 12s recently from focals/NS10s/barefoot01s and was blown away. Only thing I’m wondering now is what to expect upgrading from the 12 to the 20. The 12 is bloody brilliant but I get VERY ear fatigued on any mix that isn’t absolutely incredible nearing and above 80db. With the 12s I rarely mix over 75db

    Can someone please let me know how much heat the auratone 5c active monitors generate fully operational? It's really important for me. Thank you all

    • @bveracka
      @bveracka 7 месяцев назад

      That will likely vary based on how long you use them and how loud you play them. An hour or two might put out X amount of heat, while six-hour sessions will put out more. I'm just curious; if you don't mind me asking, why are you so concerned with heat output?

      @@jackc8120 Oh, of course, that makes perfect sense! I wouldn't know for sure, but I'd GUESS that the passive version with the single amp would produce less heat than two active speakers (with each having their own amp inside of them). Just a guess though. I'm sure Auratone would be able to tell you.

    I recently listened to the ATC 50A speakers and they sounded very good in my opinion. In terms of driver volume, it is obviously very impressive. One must also add in fairness that the driver uses a strontium magnet. Had the driver been equipped with a neodymium magnet, it would have been much smaller. I am a new fan!

    2:28 - Good video and I love ATC’s midrange domes (and their monitors/speakers as I used to own a pair of ATC SCM 150S's) and they sounded beautiful no matter what kind of music you put into them - but there is no way the magnet on the dome of the mid range dome-transducer that he compared the ATC midrange domes to had a magnet size the same as their tweeter - as per his statement. Additionally, neodymium magnets are far superior (in many ways) to Ferrite and/or Alinico magnets which which most of the ATC midrange and woofers have in them. I still love ATC’s though and miss my pair of ATC SCM 150S's. Kind regards, Kim Shaw Electronic Engineer Electrical Engineer PhD Electroacoustics
